Tarzan: The Centenary Year 2012
Tarzan is known the world over by young and old alike. Tarzan has been filmed no less than 47 different times for the big screen - it is the second behind only Dracula as the most filmed story in Hollywood’s history. From humble beginnings, the first screening of Tarzan was as a silent movie in 1918. First produced as a magazine figure in 1912 Tarzan will soon be celebrating its one hundred year anniversary.
Tarzan follows the amazing tales of a young orphan raised in the jungle by gorillas. Tarzan's life is to change forever when as a young man he meets other humans for the first time, and a special bond is instantly formed between Tarzan and Jane. However Tarzan’s interaction with humans is not always a good one, as he is called upon to save the day using his animal instincts and prowess to help protect his family of Gorillas.
Tarzan is again set for the big screen as an animated movie with a feature film also being planned.
Warner’s currently hold the rights for the live action movie with Constantine in Berlin acquiring the animation rights to the Tarzan animated movie. These films, together with two new books due to be released in 2011 and 2012 by the legendary author Andy Briggs, are fuelling excitement and anticipation of the return of the legendary Tarzan and Jane duo.
